THE NEW FRONTIERS FOUNDATION (NIGERIA)

THE NEW FRONTIERS FOUNDATION (NIGERIA):

OUR SLOGAN:
TOUCHING LIVES, BUILDING FUTURES.
WHO WE ARE:
The New Frontiers Foundation is a humanitarian, non-profit, and voluntary service organisation that promotes the advancement of economically and socially disadvantaged individuals and communities. We engage in humanitarian efforts to salvage and revamp the deplorable living state of the people in Igala land, Kogi State, Nigeria, and beyond. Moreover, the New frontiers Foundation is a project that would be committed to building long-term benefits for the people for which it is meant.
New Frontiers Foundation, through its “Operation Mitigation Programme” (OMP), with volunteers from across the country, shall work with communities to provide affordable housing and improvements in education, healthcare, and welfare services.(The NFF’s OMP is a programme you will know much about later when it comes to the fore). With the support of government and charitable donations, both from the private sector and individuals, we intend to operate within the Nigerian borders and beyond.
The New Frontiers Foundation (Nigeria) is established in 2008 as a way to encourage and preserve the human spirit in the disadvantaged children and youths in Nigeria and beyond. The central thrust behind the NFF (Nigeria) is the recognition that while we and many others have been extremely fortunate, there are ample more or less, unfortunate children and youths who could lead productive, prosperous lives if given the proper tools. Consequently, the NFF shall be committed to providing all apparatuses and paraphernalia that is required to enable children and youths in this category to succeed.
OUR VISION:

To leverage, base on the strength we have, to put smiles on people’s faces by developing them, and helping them to succeed and live their dreams.

OUR MISSION:

  • To help people develop purpose-driven lives, and challenge the youths to live out God’s purpose in their lives.
  • To help the poor help themselves (that is), to help people overcome the devastating effects of poverty and develop the capacity to create a new future for themselves and their community.
  • To bring relief to all ethnic groups in Kogi State, Nigeria, and beyond, especially focusing on Widows, Orphans, and abandoned children and families in remote areas of the state and the country at large.
  • To bring to the lowest ebb, the poverty level in our society, and provide reasonable and responsible ways for people with charitable hearts to help the poor to a better life.
  • To improve the lives of underprivileged children in Nigeria and beyond by promoting their educational and social development.
  • Moving people towards a new vision and enabling them with the skills and resources for a brighter future.

For us, every individual counts, whether in an area of great media coverage or not, we believe that ethnic comunities around the country and beyond will benefit from being a part of the New Frontiers Foundation. Our focus on the community helps us to have a wider reaching impact in the lives of children, youths and families made vulnerable through circumstances beyond their control.

OUR CORE VALUES ARE:

  • We believe that poverty and illiteracy can be tackled through community development.
  • We believe in the right of poor men and women to a secured livelihood.
  • We believe that education and economic self-reliance can be a powerful force for poverty eradication.
  • We listen to and learn from the people we work with.
  • We value innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • We have confidence in our ability to make a significant difference.

WHAT WE DO:

The New Frontiers Foundation Shall have several projects planned, and in the process, we shall also work along side National Organizations to mitigate or rather ameliorate the deplorable indigent situation in rural areas. Through experience, planning and careful research, we shall identify areas where change can be made through a little sacrifice and great vision. We shall visit these areas and assess the local needs and we shall work with the people and other volunteers to build a more sustainable life and future, by providing necessary skills training, education and the required facilities.

In the case of the children, we shall spend quality time with them, playing with them, reading to them and interacting to learn better how and what their individuals needs are so we can customize a response that will meet their needs and help to build a strong foundation for the future of each child. Through different activities, we may share with them such things as balloons, ice cream or something fun to show them we care.

We shall serve only through being who we are and that is often all it takes to make an impact so great.

Clinics: Providing medical care, thus benefiting the whole community. In most cases, when living on the outskirts, the distance and lack of transportation to major cities to receive the medical help makes it difficult to get the proper care. Here is where the NFF endeavours to continue to expand in order to provide those in need with accessible care.

In working and communicating with those in need or leaders of communities, and partnering with like minded organizations, New Frontiers Foundation desires to customize programs and provide the resources to help whole communities and individuals to grow and become more self sustaining.

HOW WE DO IT:

The care that we shall give would be directed in several different ways. Our efforts shall include raising funds through donations and gifts, which would then be carefully distributed where the needs are most urgent. We shall also have a program called “Helping Hands, where kind-hearted volunteers, like you, can visit a project and donate their time and talents in several ways for example, by teaching the local children, helping with a building project, e.t.c. The “Helping Hands Project enables you take part in restoring lives to those children who have been separated from their families due to circumstances beyond their control such as, poverty, disease or in some cases, crisis. We shall consistently be growing, and we would like you to grow with us.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

(Compassion in Action)

New Frontiers Foundation started as a small group with a big idea, and the idea was this: “To be fully human, we must translate our compassion and concern into useful service”.

That simple statement conveys something about the nature of compassion that is expressed in most spiritual traditions around the world — that compassion is not just about helping those less fortunate than ourselves, it’s about the realization that we are all connected as one human family. That sense of compassionate service motivates all of the NFF’s work, as we shall build programs that will support people in Nigeria and the world in their efforts to build healthy communities. NFF’s prospective programs, which shall be spanning many cultures in Kogi State, Nigeria, and beyond, share certain fundamental principles:

(a) Serving the Underserved:

Our programs shall serve people who have been economically, politically, or otherwise marginalized. We shall change our program approach to relate to their culture and circumstances, reaching out in very different ways. Our aim is to build a bridge of compassion between our donors and the people we serve — people in Nigeria and around the world who have the fewest resources.

(b) Building Healthy Communities:

The New Frontiers Foundation shall embrace an expanded concept of health, recognizing that spiritual and cultural renewal, economic self-sufficiency, and basic civil and human rights are as important to well-being as medical care.

(c) Promoting Sustainability:

The New Frontiers Foundation’s programs shall foster self-reliance and aim to reduce dependence on outside assistance. In the communities where we shall work, we shall share skills and technlogy appropriate for local conditions, assist local decision-making, and help launch projects that will become financially self-sufficient. This transfer of knowledge enables communities to care for their own, now and into the future.

(d) Working Through Partnerships:

We shall form long-term partnerships with those we serve. By developing close relationships with local organizations and community leaders, we build trust, mutual respect and cultural understanding. We honor the ability of communities to define their own solutions to the challenges they face.

Helping out is not some special skill. It is not the domain of rare individuals. It is not confined to a single part of our lives. We simply heed the call of that natural impulse within and follow it where it leads us.”- Ram Dass.

ORGANISATIONAL STRATEGY:

However, before the above project comes to the fore, or metamorphorse into a full-fledged philanthropic organisation, a brainstorming session is to be embarked upon by an all-encompassing think tank of juvenile intelligentsia from across the diverse communities that make up Ofu Local Government. Subsequently, it is expected to develop and spread beyond its parochial coverage to national, and then the international level. Activities of this project shall be purely philanthropic and non-profitable. The projects that the NFF shall embark upon cluster into five overarching categories:

(1) Poverty Eradication

(2) Healthcare Services

(3) Education cum Intellectual Development

(4) Welfare

(5) Widows cum Orphans empowerment.

MEMBERSHIP DESIDERATUM

Another germane cum pivotal factor to be given consideration to is the mode of admitting prospective members into the project. The NFF Nigeria is a dignified, sensitive, and hallowed project and so, membership must not be open to all Tom, Dick, and Harry. In other words, prospective members would be selected and /or admitted into the Foundation strictly on merit. It is also imperative to ensure that prospective members are individuals who are versatile, highly endowed with multifarious talents, and having the capacity to brainstorm on pending issues.

Not only that, to ensure the workability, stability, and sustainability of the NFF project, intellectuals who have the capacity to engender developmental cum brainstorming ideas are needed, as that is the only recipe for enabling the foundation grapple with the multiple gigantic challenges ahead.

Prospective members must be articulate, and should be good communicators.

Finally, an overarching desideratum for membership is the demonstration of a good personal character by prospective members. Put differently, prospective members must possess positive moral credentials.

BELOW IS A THINK TANK OF INTELLIGENTSIA WHO WOULD COORDINATE AND DRIVE THE PROJECT.

(1) Yakubu Ojonugwa (B.Sc.), River State University of Science & Technology, Port Harcourt.

(2) Philip Fidelis (B.Sc.), University of Ibadan.

(3) Akpa Innocent (B.Sc.), Kogi State University, Anyigba.

(4) Usman Ojonugwa Abutu Dekoomson (B.Sc.), Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.

(5) Solomon Ocholi (LLB.), Kogi State University, Anyigba.

(6) Atumeyi Ikani (B.Sc.), Kogi State University, Anyigba.

(7) Enebi Ochimana (B.Sc.), Kogi State University, Anyigba.

(8) Iliasu Ocheni (B.Sc.), Kogi State University, Anygba.

(9) Simon Ogwu (B.Sc), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Any member of The New Frontiers Foundation shall be called a “Frontier”. The entire members put together shall be popularly known as “The Frontiers”.

The Power and Principles of Destiny.

Destiny is the ultimate end of a thing. Destiny is “established purpose”. In other words, destiny is the final address of your life. Put differently, destiny is the finished line of the race that you are running. Destiny is the desired result, that is, the result that is desired by a source. Destiny is the predetermined end of a thing. Destiny is the reason for existence. When you discover a reason why a thing exists, it then becomes its destiny.

Every man needs vision to discover his destiny. You need to see beyond what you are today, to what you can be tomorrow in order to reach the finished line of the race that you are running. Destiny is the established end of a thing, while vision is when you see your destiny. In essence, vision is a glimpse of your destiny. All the vision you have actually exist, it’s only that you haven’t reached it yet. No matter how big or great your vision is, Know that God wants you to fulfil it, and that accounts for why he shown it to you. Vision is destiny in pictures. God would not allow you to see where you cannot go. God cannot show you what does not exist.  Your vision is a glimpse of your future, and a photograph of your destiny.

My dear reader, refute what I am about to say here if it is not true. One fact is that at times, when you see your destiny, you don’t believe it! Why? It’s because it’s so great! Your vision is a picture of your end. That is why your dreams are always bigger than your pocket book, and that also accounts for why your vision is always bigger than your finances. Your poor background cannot limit you. Whether you have a poor background, your dream is always bigger than your birth place. Just forget about the fact that you come from a remote village. Remember, Christ was born in a manger, but that was the King of the world in a manger! It doesn’t matter where you come from or how small you are. That cannot limit you in life. In the words of John Johnson, “Men and women are not limited by the place of their birth, nor by the colour of their skin, but by the size of their hope.  As a matter of fact, God will always plant big dreams in small places.

My dear, you need to think big and imagine great things! Vision is a picture of your destiny, a dream is when you experience a piece of your destiny. Your imagination plays a monumental and pivotal role in your life. Listen friends, God gave man the gift of imagination so that he could visit his destiny, come back to the present, and make plans to go there. So your dream and your passion to impact the world is from God. Destiny is permanent, but plans may change. Even though your plans changes, your purpose is permanent. God will never cancel your destiny because of your mistakes. He will always use them to be part of your testimony in the future only if you trust and rely on him. Your reliance on God in your race in life will make him transform all your stumbling stones into stepping stones; your obstacles into miracles; and your trials into testimonies.

Imbibe these five principles of destiny:

(1)  Whatever God calls for, he provides for;

(2)  Whatever God demands, he supplies;

(3)  Whatever God expects from you, he injects in you;

(4)  Whatever God assigns, he designs; and

(5)  Whatever God calls out of you, he puts in you.

Therefore, your destiny is a revelation of your ability, and your dream given to you by God is equal to your capacity to fulfil it. For example, God gave birds the destiny to fly, so God built flight into the birds. God gave fish the destiny to swim, so God put swim in the fish. God gave seeds the destiny to bring forth trees, so God put a tree in the seed. So whatever God calls you to do, he has put inside of you. Your purpose determines your potential, your dream determines your ability, while your responsibility determines your capacity.

God will not allow you to see where you cannot go. He will not allow any situation you cannot  cope with to befall you. Your vision is what you see yourself to be. I saw myself writing books. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself being an owner of big businesses in my country and beyond. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself riding big exotic cars. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself flying my own personal aircraft. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself building monumental edifices in my country. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself as a Philanthropist, establishing people and helping them to succeed. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. I saw myself catering for the poor and the needy. You cannot achieve what you cannot see. All these are not a figment of my imagination, but a picture of my future that will surely come to stay by the power of God almighty. God gave man the gift of imagination so that he could visit his destiny, come back to the present, and make plans to go there. It is categorically portrayed in the book of Ephesians 3:20, that I am able to do exceeding, more abundantly, than I can ever think or imagine according to the power that worketh within me! This simply means that there is power in one’s imagination; and if he works hard by making a proper utilization of the potentials within him, he will be able to make his imaginations crystalize and fulfil his dreams. That is why I’ve come to believe that the greatest gift God ever gave man is not the gift of sight, but the gift of imagination, the gift of vision, because sight is a function of the eyes, but vision is a function of the heart. The greatest enemy of your vision is your eyes. You have to see farther than your eyes can look. I have come to conclude that I will never trust  my eyes, because the greatest enemy of vision is sight. No wonder the Bible says, if you are just, you walk by faith, not by sight. Destiny is already established. Vision is when you see it. You can never see your destiny with your eyes. The best way to see your destiny is to close your eyes and follow the Holy Spirit.

Your destiny will always be bigger than your present resources. When your vision is from God, it will always frighten you. If you are not afraid of your vision, then it is not from God. If your vision is too big that you cannot fulfil it without God, then it is not from God. Therefore, the fear of the sight of your vision is evidence that it is from God.

My dear friends, I admonish and encourage you to go out there and achieve the impossible. Nothing is impossible. The impossible is the untried.

Do not just sit still and expect your vision to crystalize. Remember the words of Zig Ziglar, “Sitting still and making wishes makes no man great. The good Lord brings in the fishes, but you must dig the bait”. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. Tap the untapped, and release the reservoir. See you at the top!

Cheers.

Destiny is Permanent even though plans may change!

Every man born of a woman already has an end even before he was conceived. Every man has a purpose for which God created him into this world. This purpose I am talking about here is strictly analogous to, or symmetrical with what is called “Destiny”.

What then is destiny? Destiny, simply put, is the fulfilment of a divine purpose in the life of a man. Destiny is a reason why a thing exist. In other words, destiny is the finished line of the race that we are running.

You have a destination and a finished line of the race you are running on this earth. No matter your mistakes, no matter how you change your plans, and no matter how you alter your agendas in life, your destiny remains intact. God will not condemn you nor cancel nor change your destiny because of your mistakes. But you must be careful not to make wrong decisions. Your decisions could either make or mar your destiny.

Just move on. Do not allow yourself to be detered, demotivated, demoralized, nor distracted by critics and perssimists around you. Keep away from those who do not believe it can be done. Stay aloof from people who write you off and those who do not believe in your dreams. Do not even tell your dreams to people. Remember the story of Joseph, the son of Jacob in the Bible. Even Jacob his father was not happy his son dreamt of becoming great. This is better imagined.

You can succeed if no one else believe in you. But you cannot succeed if you don’t belive in yourself. Do not harken to critics and do not allow yourself to be let down by detractors. Remember, sticks and stones are thrown at fruit bearing trees. Criticisms always serve as a springboard for elevation. Opposition is meant for upliftment. I am a typical epitome of an individual whom criticism had lifted so high in life.

My dear friends, go out there and achieve the impossible and fulfil your destiny. Nothing is impossible. The impossible is the untried!
